Hickory Run State Park

Hickory Run State Park is located in the Pocono Mountains in the state of Pennsylvania. Attractions of this park include: Boulder Field Natural Area, Hawk Falls, and Mud Swamp.

02. Here is the Boulder Field from the air. This photo clearly shows that this entity can not be considered a dry riverbed.

03. The western part of Boulder Field. Round stones here are not very big.
Tourist guide - "Boulder Field - is an unusual formation of glacial origin, striking due to its flatness and  relatively large size. The  field  is approximately  400 by 1,800 feet  and is at least 12 feet deep, making it the largest formation of its kind in the  Appalachian Mountains.  This feature was  formed not from the debris of a retreating glacier but as a result of glasier-related  climatic extremes on rock outcrops. Over time, repeated freezing and thawing caused the splitting apart of these outcrops and the gradual  movement of the resulting boulder downslope  to their present location. The formation, as it appears today, has remained essentially unchanged for the past 20,000 years. Boulder field is registered as a National Natural Landmark and has been set aside for protection  as a State Park Natural Area under State Park  2000".

04.  In this field, some trees like to grow out of seems to be rock. This tree is the one found on the Boulder Field postcard. All guides talk about these trees.

05. I was surprised that these trees can grow here, however, they are struggling for survival. After all, it is not fenced and everyone wants to touch it.

06. This pine-less attraction's condition is better.
 07.  Tango on the rocks.

08.  Someone helps these trees survive, although this does not make their life easy.

09.  Eastern part of the field - large boulders and angular slope.

10. In the woods near the field, this can be considered a formation of Boulder Field.

11. A few miles from the field, there is Hickory Run Lake.

12. The lake was formed by the construction of dams on the path of a small stream - it is so beautiful and soothing.

13. Attraction of the park - Hawk Falls:

14. The waterfall is a small but rare beauty.

15.  In the woods, the State Park created many hiking trails. Groomed trails - to travel on them is a pleasure.
 16.  Here the trail passes over a hill above the Lehigh River:

17.   Turning off the trail, you can sit by the river.

18. This part of the lake is for recreation and swimming. The State Park has a large campground, but those who do not like to sleep in a tent all day come to swim in the mountain lake and see the sights of the park.
There is another mystery in this park, the Mud Swamp. I tried to get there myself, but the place is wild and can not be accessed without a guide. Therefore, the mystery remains unsolved for me.
