Kaaterskill Falls

One of the most beautiful waterfalls that I happened to see is in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York called the Kaaterskill Falls. The double cascading waterfall has a total height of 260 feet (79 meters).  The height of the drop on the upper stage is 180 feet (55 meters).

The waterfall is near North-South Lake Campground. This is a great place to stay because you can easilly access waterfalls and amazingly beautiful hiking trails.

In this photo a small group of toursists is visible. It gives an idea of the enormous overhanging rock formation!

Natural infinity pool. Over the edge is a fall of 89 feet (24 meters).

Under the cliff you feel as tiny as an ant. An unforgettable experience.

This waterfall is quite famous. A novel is wirtten about it, many famous and unknown artists used it as a subject for paintings, and poets devoted their poems to this waterfall. In 2000, even a feature film of the same name was released.

The waterfall creates a mountain creek. These pictures were taken at a time when there was no rain for a long time, so this place looked like a tranquil paradise. Of course, in the rainy season, everything looks different.

Some tips for those wishing to visit the waterfall, I wrote a report about North-South Lake Campground which is located nearby. Kaaterskill Falls is not very safe, but it is more than worthy to visit.
